The debt of a deceased wealthy mother must be settled from her wealth before the distribution of the inheritance, because the soul of a believer is tied to their debt until it is paid off. However, if she was poor and left no wealth, her heirs are not obligated to pay off her debt, but it is commendable to do so out of filial piety.

The mother may take from her son's wealth according to her need if he does not provide her with the obligatory maintenance, because her children and their wealth are hers when needed, and she has the same ruling as the father in this regard, as long as it does not harm the son or his wealth.
