Is selling video and audio cassettes forbidden (haram)?

If video and audio tapes are free from forbidden elements such as immorality, music, images of scantily clad or nude women, as well as disbelief and innovation, then it is permissible to listen to them, watch them, sell them, and buy them. However, selling tapes containing singing, music, or anything that incites discord and corruption is forbidden. The money earned from trading in them is unlawful, and they must be destroyed. Similarly, renting out shops to sellers of such tapes is forbidden, and the rent received is unlawful. It is permissible to own a television and a video player if their use is limited to permissible things such as religious and scientific lectures and news. Otherwise, they must be destroyed, and it is not permissible to sell them to someone who is likely to use them for forbidden purposes.
