Does accusing one's wife of adultery constitute divorce, even if the husband does not utter the words of divorce?

Accusing a wife of adultery does not constitute divorce, but it is forbidden if it is not based on legitimate proof, and it may become slander (qadhf) that necessitates the punishment (hadd) of the husband if he explicitly states that she committed indecency. So, if a man slanders his chaste wife, the hadd punishment becomes obligatory for him, and he is judged to be impious (fasiq), and his testimony is rejected, unless he brings forth proof or performs li'an (oath of condemnation).
