Why was the bequest of more than one-third prohibited?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, forbade bequeathing more than one-third to achieve justice between the will and the heirs' right to the money, and because leaving money to the heirs is more rewarding, and because giving to a poor relative is better. It is recommended for someone whose heirs are poor and whose wealth is little not to make a will and leave the money to their heirs, because the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "It is better for you to leave your heirs wealthy than to leave them dependent, begging from people."
