What the questioner uttered does not take him out of the fold of Islam; rather, it might be a case of speaking the Qur'an in a way other than what Allah intended, which is disliked by some scholars. For one who applies the Qur'an contrary to Allah's intent, such as someone who cites the verse: "Ask not about things which, if made plain to you, may cause you trouble," out of its proper context, or like the woman who speaks only from the Qur'an, this is considered a slip.
