Is the civil marriage that took place in Cyprus between a Syrian young man and a German Muslim girl, in the presence of two witnesses (a man and a woman), permissible or forbidden? Aborting a fetus is not permissible. If a marriage was not conducted with a guardian (wali) and two just witnesses, it is invalid and must be annulled. The child is attributed to the father in disputed marriages. The marriage must be renewed in a Shari'ah-compliant manner. It is recommended to approach Islamic centers and to consult scholars ("people of remembrance") before taking action.
