What is the relationship between religion and politics, and should Islam be separated from the state and politics?

The assertion that Islam should be separated from the state and politics is an error that contradicts religion. Religion is the law of Allah Almighty, and denying its relationship with politics means denying Allah’s relationship with it, which no believer would conceive. All human beings are Allah’s creation; they cannot dispense with Him, nor can they depart from His law, which was legislated for their benefit. Just as Allah is unique in creation, He is unique in commanding and forbidding. It is not permissible to associate anyone else with Him in these, as Allah Almighty says: "Unquestionably, His is the creation and the command; blessed is Allah, Lord of the worlds." The separation between religion and politics cannot stand except on the principle of atheism or adherence to a false religion, as occurred in distorted Christianity, which led to the emergence of secularism.
