Does divorce occur with the statement "What is between us is over" if said with the intention of ending the relationship, or do anger and the lack of explicit intention for divorce prevent its occurrence?

A husband's statement to his wife, "What was between us has ended," is an allusive (kinayah) divorce, and its ruling depends on the husband's intention. If the husband doubts his intention, the original presumption is the continuity of the marital bond, because certainty is not removed by doubt. Both spouses should realize the importance of the stability of married life and strive to preserve it, addressing problems with wisdom and according to the Sharia.
