How can one atone for repeated oaths resulting from obsessive thoughts, especially the repeated oath of saying "By God, I will not do it again" during purification (ghusl) and ablution (wudu), and how is feeding ten needy people done, with clarification on the method of feeding?

Whoever breaks an oath, its expiation is feeding ten poor people, or clothing them, or freeing a slave. If one cannot find these, then fasting three days, according to the words of Allah Almighty: "Allah will not impose blame upon you for what is unintentional in your oaths, but He will impose blame upon you for what you intended of oaths. So its expiation is the feeding of ten poor people from the average of that which you feed your [own] families or clothing them or the freeing of a slave. But whoever cannot find [the means] - then a fast of three days." (Al-Ma'idah: from verse 89).

It is permissible to feed the poor person ready-made food, or rice, or wheat, from the average food of the people of the country. If one cannot find poor people, the expiation can be given to charitable organizations.

If one is unable to feed, or clothe, or free, then he must fast three days for each oath he broke. The majority of scholars do not stipulate sequential fasting for the expiation of an oath, while the Hanafis and some Hanbalis do stipulate it.
