Is it permissible to supplicate with, "O Allah, accept us in whatever state we are, O Most Generous"?

There is no harm in supplicating to Allah to overlook shortcomings and accept deeds despite their deficiencies, for Allah is "Shakur" (Most Appreciative), Who accepts little, forgives much, and gives generously. His Name has been paired with "Al-Ghafur" (The All-Forgiving) in the Qur’an, as in His saying: ﴿إِنَّهُ غَفُورٌ شَكُورٌ﴾ (Indeed, He is Most Forgiving, Most Appreciative). This pairing indicates that Allah forgives sins and rewards good deeds, as in the story of the man who watered a dog, and Allah forgave him.

Nevertheless, a servant should not be deluded by this; rather, they should strive in piety towards Allah and combine hope with fear of sin, as Ali ibn Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "No servant should hope for anyone but his Lord, and no servant should fear anything but his sin." Also, a servant should not commit evil deeds and then hope for good from them, for Allah says: ﴿إِنَّمَا يَتَقَبَّلُ اللَّهُ مِنَ الْمُتَّقِينَ﴾ (Indeed, Allah accepts only from the righteous).
