Does the statement, "I swear by Allah I will not divorce you, if I see your face," constitute a divorce or an oath requiring expiation?

The statement "غير أطلقك" (I will divorce you) - if its meaning is "I will divorce you" - is a promise of divorce. A promise of divorce does not constitute a divorce and its execution is not recommended. If the divorce does not occur, the one who made the statement is obligated to offer an expiation for breaking an oath (kaffarat yamin).
