"Shyness (Haya') is a branch of faith, and it is entirely good. What is meant is the legitimate shyness, which is defined as: 'A characteristic that prompts avoidance of indecency and prevents falling short in fulfilling the rights of those who are due them.' If shyness leads to the fulfillment of rights and prevents evil deeds, then it is good. However, if it leads to abandoning an obligation or committing something forbidden, then it is not legitimate shyness; rather, it is from the deception of Satan."
