Is a merchant entitled to retract his forgiveness and remission of a debt for a deceased person and demand the debt again after the person's death and burial?

The creditor who absolves his debtor from a debt cannot retract or claim it, because the debtor's liability is cleared by the absolution, and what is relinquished does not return. This is especially true for a deceased person, who cannot respond; thus, the debt is waived from them merely by the creditor's declaration of absolution. This is the implication of the view of the majority of scholars. If the creditor insists on his right, the matter must be referred to the Sharia court for a ruling.
