Who was the first to add dots to the letters, and who was the first to divide the Noble Quran into Hizbs, Juz's, quarters, and eighths?
"The dotting of the letters, the vowelization, and the division of the Quran into parts, hizbs, quarters, and eighths are all from the work of the Successors (Tabi'een) and are called in the terminology of Quranic sciences: ((Diacritization/Control). The script ( - rasm) is attributed to the Companions. The first to introduce dotting in the Quran was Abu al-Aswad al-Du'ali, then al-Khalil ibn Ahmad al-Farahidi came and developed a more precise diacritization. As for the division into parts and hizbs, it was done by Nasr ibn Asim and Yahya ibn Ya'mur under the supervision of al-Hajjaj ibn Yusuf al-Thaqafi, and this was also during the era of the Successors (Tabi'een).
