What is the ruling on a pharmacist giving birth control pills, and does that conflict with the matter of ensoulment of the fetus, and is taking them considered killing?
Source: FtawySummary from Ftawy's records · added here Sep 2, 2026
It is not recommended to sell medicines if it is known that they will be used for unlawful () purposes, such as contraception resulting from illicit sexual relations (zina), or contraception without necessity, or abortion. However, if the pharmacist is compelled to sell, he/she must advise the buyers of the impermissibility of these unlawful uses (such as abortion or contraception without necessity). It is preferable not to sell to those who insist on unlawful uses, if there is an option to do so.
