What is the ruling on fasting by beginning and breaking the fast according to Egypt's old time, before the time change?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

Fasting must be observed from dawn until sunset, in accordance with His, the Almighty’s, saying: "And eat and drink until the white thread of dawn becomes distinct to you from the black thread [of night]. Then complete the fast until the night." As for daylight saving time and the changing of clocks, they do not alter the reality of the legally prescribed fasting times in any way. The obligation to observe the times of dawn and sunset for fasting remains.
