Are the following invocations (adhkar) soundly reported from the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him: "O Allah, I seek refuge in You from disbelief, poverty, and the torment of the grave," and "O Allah, I seek refuge in You from cowardice, and I seek refuge in You from being returned to the most decrepit old age, and I seek refuge in You from the trials of this world, and I seek refuge in You from the torment of the grave"? And are they to be recited after all prayers or after specific prayers?

It has been authentically reported from the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, that he used to supplicate after the prayer with some invocations, among which is what Imam Ahmad and An-Nasa'i narrated from Abu Bakrah, may Allah be pleased with him, who said: "The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, used to say after the prayer: 'O Allah, I seek refuge in You from disbelief and poverty, and from the torment of the grave.'" And in Al-Bukhari and Muslim, it is narrated from Sa'd ibn Abi Waqqas that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, used to seek refuge after the prayer with: "O Allah, I seek refuge in You from cowardice, and I seek refuge in You from being returned to the most decrepit old age, and I seek refuge in You from the trials of this world, and I seek refuge in You from the torment of the grave." The Prophet used to seek refuge from these things as an enactment of legislation for his Ummah, and there is no specific mention of these supplications being restricted to some prayers over others.
