Is it permissible to purchase a commodity by installments at a higher price than its cash price, when one is able to pay for it in cash?
Installment selling with an increased price is permissible, but it is disliked to expand upon it without need, because installment selling is a sale on credit, and the Prophet (peace be upon him) used to seek refuge from debt and say: "Indeed, when a man incurs debt, he speaks, then he lies, and he promises, then he breaks his promise." And among his supplications (peace be upon him) was: "Pay off our debts and enrich us from poverty." It is obligatory not to buy on installment if the person is able to pay in cash, because that burdens the financial liability with debts unnecessarily, and the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "Every sin of a martyr is forgiven except debt," and "If a man were to be killed in the way of Allah, then brought back to life, then killed, then brought back to life, then killed, and he owed a debt, he would not enter Paradise until his debt is paid off." So, if you are not in need of money and have enough to buy in cash, then it is better to buy in cash and avoid installments.
