Is a seller rewarded for selling by installments, where the price of the commodity is higher than its cash price, for helping Muslims purchase their necessities?

Installment selling with an increased price is permissible. It may even be recommended for the merchant if he intends to be lenient with the buyer and assist him, especially if the buyer is poor and in need, and if the merchant does not press him for payment but rather grants him respite or gives him charity, in accordance with the Almighty's saying: "And if there is one in [financial] hardship, then [let there be] postponement until [a time of] ease. But if you give [it in] charity, it is better for you, if you only knew." Installment selling is permissible if the merchant intends profit and exchange and increases the price because of the installment payment. It is disliked for a merchant to sell only by installment, because it falls under the category of selling to a distressed person. Rather, it is better to sell both for cash and by installment.
