Prohibition due to fosterage is established if there are five full sucklings within the first two years of the child's life. In this case, the suckling becomes a son to the foster mother and her husband. His foster sister, whether the suckling occurred seriously or playfully, becomes unlawful for him. However, prohibition is not established if the number of sucklings is less than five, or if it occurs after the two-year period, nor is it established by doubt regarding the number of sucklings. If foster-motherhood is not established through suckling, then foster-brotherhood is not established either. If fosterage is not established, and the mother refuses her son's marriage to his paternal cousin due to disagreements, then obedience to the mother is obligatory, unless the son fears falling into sin with the girl, in which case obedience to the mother is not obligatory.
