What is the formula for sending blessings upon the Prophet, may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him, and what are the best times to send blessings upon him?

There are several authentic forms of Salat (blessings) upon the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, such as: "O Allah, bless Muhammad and the family of Muhammad, as You blessed Ibrahim and the family of Ibrahim, You are indeed Praiseworthy and Glorious. O Allah, grant favors to Muhammad and the family of Muhammad, as You granted favors to Ibrahim and the family of Ibrahim, You are indeed Praiseworthy and Glorious." These forms are recited both during and outside of prayer, and it is preferable to limit oneself to the transmitted forms.

Reciting Salat upon the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, carries immense virtues, including obeying Allah Almighty's command in His saying: "Indeed, Allah and His angels send blessings upon the Prophet. O you who have believed, ask [Allah to confer] blessing upon him and grant him peace." Another virtue is that whoever sends blessings upon him once, Allah will send blessings upon them ten times.

Sending blessings upon him is legislated at all times and is particularly emphasized at specific times, including: - When his noble name is mentioned. - Frequently on Friday. - In the final tashahhud of the prayer. - In the qunut of witr prayer. - In the funeral prayer, after the second takbir. - In sermons, such as the Friday and Eid sermons. - After responding to the adhan (call to prayer). - When making dua (supplication). - In the morning and evening. - In any gathering a person attends, to avoid regret and sorrow.
