Is an oath sworn by placing one's hand on the Qur'an while not in a state of ritual purity considered valid and binding, or is one required to perform ablution and repeat the oath?

It is permissible to swear by Allah Almighty upon the Mus'haf to affirm an oath. The oath becomes binding thereby, and expiation is required for breaking it, even if the one swearing is in a state of ritual impurity, as purity is not a condition for the validity of the oath. However, the one swearing commits a sin if they touch the Mus'haf while not in a state of ablution.
