What is the ruling on correcting an error made by the Imam in the Friday sermon, whether it be in a Quranic verse, such as "وعلى كلِّ ضامرٍ يأتين من كلِّ فجٍّ عميق" (And [proclaim] to the people the Hajj [pilgrimage]; they will come to you on foot and on every lean camel; they will come from every distant pass) where he pronounced "ضامر" (lean camel) with a "dal" instead of a "dad," or in a piece of information, such as his statement: "Repeating the Hajj only benefits its performer with the reward of the first Hajj"? And does the prayer become invalid thereby?
1. The speaker's statement that there is no reward for repeating Hajj except for the first Hajj contradicts some legal texts, such as the : "Perform Hajj and consecutively, for they remove poverty and sins." Many scholars prefer supererogatory Hajj over supererogatory charity if there are no needy or distressed relatives.
2. If the speaker makes a mistake in the Quran that alters its meaning, or makes a mistake in his speech that misleads people, the listener must immediately correct the error; because it is not permissible to change the word of Allah or to approve what misleads people. As for a mistake that does not alter the meaning, there is no obligation to respond to it.
3. If the speaker fulfills the pillars of the sermon, then his prayer and the prayer of the congregants are valid.
