The prohibition of naming in a way that implies self-praise, such as the name "Barrah" which the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, changed to "Zaynab." It is not appropriate to name a child "Malak" (angel) as it implies self-praise, but "Malak" (beauty/grace) is permissible as long as it does not imply self-praise in the custom of the land. It is preferable to name daughters after the Mothers of the Believers, female Companions, and righteous women like Maryam (Mary).
