Is forced marriage Islamically valid if the family threatens to withdraw the student's university file should she refuse?

It is not permissible for the guardian to force a virgin, adult woman to marry someone she does not desire. If she is forced, she has the choice to either uphold the marriage contract or annul it. The questioner is advised to try to persuade her family, seek the mediation of good people, and supplicate. If they are not convinced, it is better to obey the guardian if the one he chose is suitable. Studying does not prevent marriage, and the questioner can stipulate to the husband that she completes her studies.
