Movies are not free of illicit content, and watching them is even more prohibited if they are obscene or pornographic. An oath not to watch movies includes all of them, unless something specific was intended. Watching any movie after taking the oath necessitates an expiation for breaking an oath (kaffarat yameen). Whoever watches movies out of forgetfulness of the oath is not required to offer expiation. To cease watching movies, one can adopt the means mentioned by scholars and educators.
