The answer

It is mentioned in the Sahihayn, on the authority of Abdullah bin Zayd bin Asim, that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), after the Battle of Hunayn, distributed the spoils among those whose hearts were to be reconciled, and he gave nothing to the Ansar. So, he reproached them and reminded them that Allah had guided them through him after their misguidance, and united them after their disunity, and enriched them after their poverty. When he asked them: "What prevents you from answering the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah upon him)?" They replied that Allah and His Messenger were most benevolent. Then he said to them: "Are you not pleased that people go away with sheep and camels, while you go away with the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah upon him) to your dwellings?" And he mentioned that were it not for the Hijrah, he would have been a man from the Ansar, and that the Ansar are the inner garment (shi'ar - batana) and others are the outer garment (dithar - zhahara). He also enjoined them to be patient concerning the favoritism they would encounter after him until they met him at the Hawd (Pond).
