Is the additional charge resulting from delaying the return of a rented car beyond the agreed-upon time permissible in Islamic law?

If you both agree on the increase resulting from the delay, there is no harm in it, because it is in exchange for a benefit during the extended period. If there is no agreement and the lessor does not give permission, then you are obligated to pay the rent of a similar property.
