Is renewing one's intention before and during communal work valid and recommended, or is it an innovation?

Intention is required before performing a good deed, as the reward is contingent upon it. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Actions are but by intentions, and every person will have what he intended," and "There is no reward except for that which is done for the sake of Allah, and no deed except with an intention." Bringing the intention to mind during the action is good, but it is not a condition. It is sufficient to maintain its ruling, not necessarily to articulate it, meaning that one should not invalidate their intention with anything that contradicts it.
