The answer

The person who complains about you, harms you at work, and slanders your reputation because you refused their requests for nepotism is considered unjust towards you. Nevertheless, maintaining ties of kinship is obligatory and is not nullified by harm from a relative. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "If what you say is true, then you are feeding them hot ashes, and you will continue to have a supporter from Allah against them as long as you persist in that." He also said: "The one who maintains ties of kinship is not the one who reciprocates, but rather the one who maintains ties when they are severed." Therefore, it is not permissible to sever ties with this person. It is sufficient to maintain the minimum level of kinship ties while being cautious of them. Severing ties of kinship due to harm is a sin.
