Is it permissible for a man, in praise of his wife, to say: "Without her, life would have no meaning"?

The statement that life has no meaning without a specific person is usually a courtesy, whereas the true meaning of life lies in faith, religion, and steadfastness upon them.

There is no harm in uttering this phrase between spouses to increase affection, as Islamic law has permitted lying between them. This is narrated in the Hadith of Asma bint Yazid: "Lying is not permissible except in three cases: a man lying to his wife to please her, or making peace between people, or lying in war." Ibn al-Malak explained that this includes the husband saying: "No one is more beloved to me than you."

While this statement is permissible, avoiding it is preferable.
