What is the ruling on downloading social media applications for beneficial purposes, given the family's refusal?

The ruling varies depending on the circumstances of the family's prohibition. If their prohibition is without a legitimate religious justification, then obedience to them is not obligatory. However, if their prohibition has a legitimate religious justification, then obedience to them is incumbent. It should be noted that social media is a double-edged sword; using it for good is a way of showing gratitude for the blessing, while using it for evil is a denial of it. Allah Almighty said: "And [remember] when your Lord proclaimed, 'If you are grateful, I will surely increase you [in favor]; but if you deny, indeed, My punishment is severe.'"
