I have gambled a lot, so how can I repent from it?

One must immediately stop gambling, abandon its associates, venues, and tools, regret what has passed, and resolve never to return to it. It is recommended to give charity, based on the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying: "Whoever says to his companion, 'Come, let me gamble with you,' should give charity," as an expiation for the sin. Scholars believe that giving charity is not restricted to a specific amount but rather to what is affordable, and this is supported by the narration: "So let him give charity with something."
