Is it permissible to adopt the view of the Malikis regarding the permissibility, with some disapproval (karaha), of drawing two-dimensional images?

The majority of jurists are of the opinion that it is forbidden to draw images of living beings, whether they are three-dimensional or two-dimensional, based on the Prophet's sayings (peace be upon him) which prohibit image-making and threaten image-makers with punishment. As for the Malikis, they held the view that only two-dimensional images are disliked, and they argued based on the exception of "figures on clothing" and what has been narrated about the use of images that are treated with disrespect. This difference of opinion is permissible, but the majority's view is prohibition, unless the image is incomplete, lacking the breath of life.
