What is the ruling on poems that a deceased father instructed to be burned, while some heirs demand to keep them or distribute copies of them?

The ruling on executing a will varies depending on what is bequeathed. If it is something obligatory or recommended, then it must be executed. However, if it is something permissible or something that does not involve an act of worship—such as your father's will to publish his poems that do not contain any religious violations or incitement to an obligation—then it should be executed because poetry may contain slips and faults that a believer would not like to see in his record, in accordance with the Almighty's saying: "He does not utter any word except that with him is an observer prepared [to record it]" and the Prophet's (peace and blessings be upon him) saying: "Whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day, let him speak good or remain silent." However, if the poems contain religious violations, they must be destroyed. If they contain benefits and wisdom that can benefit people, then there is no objection to keeping them.
