What is the ruling on one who, unintentionally, prays over a deceased person while in a state of major ritual impurity (junub), and is he sinful, and what should he do?

Purification from the two types of ritual impurity is a condition for the validity of prayer. If one prays the funeral prayer unknowingly or forgetfully, while being in a state of major ritual impurity, then we hope there is no sin upon him. However, if he prays knowingly and remembering that he is in a state of ritual impurity (janabah), then he has committed a forbidden act and must repent, and his prayer is invalid.
