Iyad ibn Musa ibn Iyad al-Yahsubi, Abu al-Fadl al-Qadi, a hadith scholar and memorizer, was born in Ceuta in 476 AH. He traveled to Andalusia, where he surpassed his peers and gained widespread fame in hadith, fiqh, usul (principles of Islamic jurisprudence), language, and other fields. He served as a judge in his hometown for a long period, then was transferred to Granada, and later returned to Ceuta. He passed away in Marrakesh on Friday, the 7th of Jumada al-Akhira, in 544 AH. Among his most famous works are: "Al-Shifa fi Ta'rif Huquq al-Mustafa (The Cure concerning the Recognition of the Rights of the Chosen One)," "Tartib al-Madarik wa Taqrib al-Masalik (Ordering the Perceptions and Approaching the Paths)," and "Jami' al-Tarikh (The Comprehensive History)."
