Is it permissible to read books of culture, novels, stories, and modern books that do not address the Qur’an and Sunnah?

There is no harm in reading anything beneficial or permissible, as long as it does not contain Shariah prohibitions such as inciting immorality or deviation. The virtue of reading varies according to the type of knowledge being read. The best is that which is related to revelation, but this does not mean that other sciences, cultural books, and stories are forbidden if they are free from prohibitions.
