How should a Muslim deal with books of knowledge?
For a student of knowledge to benefit from a book, they must understand its subject matter, terminology, style, and expressions, and make use of the comments in the margins and footnotes.
Reading can be of two types: reflective and comprehending with deliberation, and a quick survey reading to understand the book's content.
A student of knowledge should be keen on collecting books, prioritizing the most important ones, especially key and foundational texts in various sciences, with patience and perseverance.
It is obligatory for a student of knowledge to evaluate books and ensure their library is free of books that contain no good, or that contain evil, or that are harmful to methodology and creed, for books are nourishment for the soul.
