The authentic Sunnah encourages taghannī with the Quran, meaning to beautify one's voice when reciting it, not to make it like singing. The meaning of the Hadith "Allah has not listened to anything as He listens to a Prophet with a beautiful voice reciting the Quran aloud" is that Allah listened in a manner befitting Him. Taghannī means to recite the Quran aloud with a beautiful voice and humility, in order to stir hearts. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, approved of Abu Musa Al-Ash'ari's beautification of his voice while reciting the Quran, which indicates that beautifying the voice and taking care in recitation are desirable for the humility of both the reciter and the listener.
