Is it permissible to cooperate with heirs in searching for poor and widowed individuals to execute their father's will, in which he designated two hectares of his land for the poor and the needy, based on the noble verse: "And know that whatever you take as spoils of war, indeed, for Allah is its fifth, and for the Messenger, and for relatives, and orphans, and the needy, and the traveler," and is the origin of the testator's wealth considered?

There is no harm in cooperating with the heirs to search for those who are entitled to the bequest. This is a form of cooperation in goodness, because executing a will for the poor and needy, as long as it does not exceed one-third [of the estate], is a religious obligation. It is a charity for which the testator and whoever assists in its execution will be rewarded, based on the Almighty’s saying: "And cooperate in righteousness and piety," and the Hadith (definition): "Allah helps a servant as long as the servant helps his brother." There is no need to inquire into the origin of the testator's wealth unless it is known that his earnings were unlawful. The default assumption for a Muslim is soundness, and their wealth is considered lawful by doubt. Imam An-Nawawi said: "Whoever inherits wealth and does not know from where their testator earned it—whether from lawful or unlawful means—and there is no indication, then it is lawful by the consensus of scholars."
