How is the process of prostrating and rising from it performed? Do the hands precede the feet when prostrating, or vice versa? And what is the hadith that indicates this?

The method of prostrating (going down for sujud) is explained in Fatwa No. 32727. As for the method of rising for the next rak'ah, the Maliki and Shafi'i schools hold that one rises by supporting oneself on the hands, while the Hanbali school holds that one rises by supporting oneself on the knees. The Hanbalis cite the hadith of Wa'il ibn Hujr: "When he rose, he lifted his hands before his knees." In contrast, the Shafi'is cite the hadith of Malik ibn al-Huwairith: "He sat up straight, then stood up, supporting himself on the ground with his hands."
