Is mocking a specific profession or telling jokes that ridicule the people of a certain city considered backbiting against everyone who works in that profession or lives in that city?

Mentioning the people of a particular village or a specific profession is not considered backbiting (gheebah) due to a defect, because backbiting is directed at someone identifiable. Nevertheless, this act is considered mockery, and the Quran described mockery as a characteristic of the ignorant, citing the words of Moses (peace be upon him): "I seek refuge in Allah from being among the ignorant."
