Is the opinion of the congregants considered if the Imam doubts his forgetfulness in prayer and they do not alert him, and should he continue his prayer without performing the prostration of forgetfulness (sujud al-sahw)?

If a worshiper doubts during their prayer and does not know the number of rak'ahs, there are two scenarios for them:

1. If they do not have a preference for a specific number, they should build upon the minimum certain number and perform two prostrations of forgetfulness (sujud as-sahw) before the taslim.

2. If they have a preference for a specific number, they should build upon what they prefer and perform two prostrations of forgetfulness after the taslim.

The Imam should build upon what he prefers, without considering the silence of the congregants, though their silence might strengthen his preference. He performs sujud as-sahw in both cases.
