Is repentance accepted for spreading an audio recording that contains insults and obscene words, knowing that the recording has spread, and the one who possesses it refuses to delete it, and it is still being heard?

The questioner must promptly engage in sincere repentance and seek forgiveness from those he insulted, if possible, without causing harm. Otherwise, he should frequently supplicate and seek forgiveness for them, and speak well of them without informing them. As for recorded speech that you are unable to erase, there is no blame upon you concerning it, for Allah, the Exalted, says: ﴿ALLAH DOES NOT BURDEN A SOUL BEYOND ITS CAPACITY.﴾ And, "Whoever repents after having committed the causes [of sin], has fulfilled what was incumbent upon him. And if its corruption remains, it is like one who recanted from spreading an innovation that is followed." Sincere repentance erases what came before it.
