Can the noble verse, "Indeed, the hypocrites are in the lowest depths of the Fire," be used to refer to a two-faced Muslim, who shows one characteristic in front of me and another behind my back, by telling him: "You are a hypocrite, and the hypocrites are in the lowest depths of the Fire"?

The verse: "Indeed, the hypocrites will be in the lowest depths of the Fire" (Quran 4:145) applies to those who harbor hypocrisy in belief (nifaq i'tiqadi), meaning they conceal disbelief. It does not apply to those Muslims who exhibit practical hypocrisy (nifaq 'amali). Therefore, it is not permissible to apply this threat to Muslims, nor to accuse a Muslim of hypocrisy, for the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, forbade that. If a characteristic of hypocrites appears in a person, such as lying, then it is only permissible to say that he possesses a characteristic of hypocrites.
