I was on a chat platform and felt amazed by the many \"achievements\" of a friend on it, and I fear that my view of him may be an evil eye, so can it affect him despite the distance between us? And is it a condition that the envied be in front of the envier? And does repentance nullify the evil eye?
"Praise be to Allah and prayers and peace be upon the Messenger of Allah and upon his family and companions. To proceed:
Not every admiration for something leads to being affected by the evil eye. The basic principle is safety from the evil eye. It has been mentioned in the Hadith that if a person sees something they admire, they should pray for blessings upon it because the evil eye is real.
It is not required to see the person affected directly; rather, the evil eye can strike through an image or description. The influence of the evil eye can occur in several ways: direct contact, meeting, vision, spiritual orientation, prayers and incantations, or even by illusion and imagination.
If the person causing the evil eye affects someone, their repentance does not negate the impact of the evil eye, but it benefits if the eye was out of envy or intent to harm."
