Did the man die as a martyr after indicating "yes" with his eyes when prompted with it a few minutes before his death?

Among the signs of a good ending (husn al-khatimah) is that a person's last words are "La ilaha illa Allah" (There is no god but Allah). Goodness is hoped for one who was unable to utter it but signaled with their eyes or mumbled it without sound.
