Is it permissible to embody religious animated figures?

Scholars differ regarding the ruling on animated images of living beings. Some have prohibited them by analogy with all other images, while others have permitted them due to their not containing the fundamental cause of prohibition. Still others have viewed them as permissible, considering them an alternative to prohibited things. The most preponderant opinion is the permissibility of producing and filming them, subject to শরعي (Shari'i) controls and for a commendable purpose.
