Is it permissible to seek knowledge of non-religious fields, such as architectural engineering, which requires dedicating full time and effort, while allocating little time to seeking religious knowledge?

Learning beneficial non-religious sciences for Muslims is permissible. With a good intention, it becomes an act of obedience for which the learner is rewarded. It may even reach the level of obligation if the Muslim community needs it. As for religious knowledge, it is obligatory to learn what is indispensable for worship. After that, it is permissible to learn permissible worldly sciences.
